Chikkudi Tomato Kura

Ingredients:

  • Chikkudukaya (Broad beans ) – 1/4kg (cleaned and torn or cut into 1 inch pieces)
  • Tomatoes medium – 3
  • Onion medium – 2
  • Green chillies – 3
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

Seasoning:

  • Chana dal 1spn
  • Garlic cloves 6
  • Cumin seeds 1/2spn
  • Mustard seeds 1/2spn

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pressure pan, add garlic and after a minute other seasoning ingredients and saute till golden.
  2. Add chopped onion, slit green chilli and curry leaves and saute till onions are transparent.
  3. Add chopped tomato, also turmeric and salt. Saute till tomato turns soft.
  4. Add chikkudikaya pieces and also chilli powder, mix well.
  5. Cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Now add a cup of water and close with cooker lid and let it cook for 2 whistles.
  7. Cook on low flame till moisture is absorbed.
  8. Enjoy with hot rice.
